²² The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ²³ “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus ^(A)you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them,

These are the clans of the Levites according to their fathers. ^20 (X)Of Gershom: Libni his son, ^(Y)Jahath his son, Zimmah his son, ²¹ Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, Jeatherai his son. ^22 (Z)The sons of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son, ²³ Elkanah his son, Ebiasaph his son, Assir his son, ²⁴ Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son. ²⁵ The sons of Elkanah: Amasai and Ahimoth, ²⁶ Elkanah his son, Zophai his son, Nahath his son, ²⁷ Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, Elkanah his son. ²⁸ The sons of Samuel: Joel^[c] his firstborn, the second Abijah.^{[d] 29 (AA)}The sons of Merari: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son, ³⁰ Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, and Asaiah his son.

^17 (A)In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month,^[a] on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: ^18 (B)“Son of man, ^(C)wail over ^(D)the multitude of Egypt, and ^(E)send them down, her and the daughters of majestic nations, ^(F)to the world below, to those who have gone down to the pit:

²⁰ They shall fall amid those ^(I)who are slain by the sword. Egypt^[b] is delivered to the sword; drag her away, and ^(J)all her multitudes. ²¹ The mighty chiefs ^(K)shall speak of them, ^(L)with their helpers, out of the midst of Sheol: ‘They have come down, they lie still, ^(M)the uncircumcised, ^(N)slain by the sword.’

^22 (O)“Assyria is there, and all her company, ^(P)its graves all around it, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, ²³ whose graves are set in ^(Q)the uttermost parts of the pit; and her company is all around her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, ^(R)who spread terror ^(S)in the land of the living.

^24 (T)“Elam is ^(U)there, and all her multitude around her grave; all of them ^(V)slain, fallen by the sword, who went down uncircumcised into ^(W)the world below, who spread their terror in the land of the living; and ^(X)they bear their shame ^(Y)with those who go down to the pit. ^25 (Z)They have made her a bed among the slain with all her multitude, ^(AA)her graves all around it, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for terror of them was spread in the land of the living, and they bear their shame with those who go down to the pit; they are placed among the slain.

^26 (AB)“Meshech-Tubal is ^(AC)there, and all her multitude, ^(AD)her graves all around it, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for they spread their terror in the land of the living. ²⁷ And ^(AE)they do not lie with the mighty, the fallen from among the uncircumcised, who went down to Sheol with their weapons of war, whose swords were laid under their heads, and whose iniquities are upon their bones; for the terror of the mighty men was in the land of the living. ²⁸ But as for you, you shall be broken ^(AF)and lie among the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword.

^29 (AG)“Edom is ^(AH)there, her kings and all her princes, who for all their might are laid with those who are killed by the sword; they lie with the uncircumcised, with those who go down to the pit.

³⁰ “The princes ^(AI)of the north are there, all of them, and all the ^(AJ)Sidonians, who have gone down in shame with the slain, ^(AK)for all the terror that they caused by their might; they lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword, and ^(AL)bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.

³¹ “When Pharaoh sees them, he ^(AM)will be comforted for ^(AN)all his multitude, Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, declares the Lord God. ^32 (AO)For I spread terror ^(AP)in the land of the living; and he shall be laid to rest among ^(AQ)the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword, Pharaoh and all his multitude, declares the Lord God.”

The Rich Man and Lazarus

¹⁹ “There was a rich man who was clothed in ^(A)purple and fine linen and ^(B)who feasted sumptuously every day. ²⁰ And at his gate ^(C)was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, ²¹ who desired to be fed with ^(D)what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. ²² The poor man died and was carried by ^(E)the angels ^(F)to Abraham's side.^[a] The rich man also died and was buried, ²³ and in ^(G)Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and ^(H)saw Abraham far off and Lazarus ^(I)at his side. ²⁴ And he called out, ^(J)‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and ^(K)cool my tongue, for ^(L)I am in anguish in this flame.’ ²⁵ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that ^(M)you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. ²⁶ And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ ²⁷ And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house— ²⁸ for I have five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ ²⁹ But Abraham said, ‘They have ^(N)Moses and the Prophets; ^(O)let them hear them.’ ³⁰ And he said, ‘No, ^(P)father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ ³¹ He said to him, ‘If they do not hear ^(Q)Moses and the Prophets, ^(R)neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”

One in Christ

¹¹ Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called ^(A)the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— ¹² remember ^(B)that you were at that time separated from Christ, ^(C)alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to ^(D)the covenants of promise, ^(E)having no hope and without God in the world. ¹³ But now in Christ Jesus you who once were ^(F)far off have been brought near ^(G)by the blood of Christ. ¹⁴ For ^(H)he himself is our peace, ^(I)who has made us both one and has broken down ^(J)in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility ¹⁵ by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ^(K)ordinances, that he might create in himself one ^(L)new man in place of the two, so making peace, ¹⁶ and might ^(M)reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. ¹⁷ And he came and ^(N)preached peace to you who were ^(O)far off and peace to those who were ^(P)near. ¹⁸ For ^(Q)through him we both have ^(R)access in ^(S)one Spirit to the Father. ¹⁹ So then you are no longer ^(T)strangers and aliens,^[a] but you are ^(U)fellow citizens with the saints and ^(V)members of the household of God, ^20 (W)built on the foundation of the ^(X)apostles and prophets, ^(Y)Christ Jesus himself being ^(Z)the cornerstone, ^21 (AA)in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into ^(AB)a holy temple in the Lord. ²² In him ^(AC)you also are being built together ^(AD)into a dwelling place for God by^[b] the Spirit.
